Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 „Citadelle des Morts“ Easter Egg Guide
One of Avalon’s oldest landmarks, the Citadel, is shunned by locals due to its grim history and its function as the operational base of the criminal family known as the French Syndicate. The fortress was founded in the 12th century on the site of a leper colony, with construction completed a century later. In the 14th century, the rogue knight Guy de Saint Michel, along with his four henchmen, seized the fortress and established a reign of criminal terror, marking the birth of the Syndicate.
Having withstood medieval sieges and two world wars, the castle’s significance diminished as modern Avalon grew and prospered. Today, it remains closed to the public and serves as the base of operations for a Syndicate faction led by a man named Franco, whose dealings with Project Janus have brought a dark catastrophe to a place already steeped in bloodshed.
Welcome to the Citadelle des Morts
Following the events of Terminus, Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey—along with Peck, Raptor One, and Strauss—embark on an expedition to the European principality of Avalon. There, the operators hope to ally with a significant figure named Gabriel Krafft. Their goal is to learn more about an ancient relic known as the “Sentinel Artifact,” whose powers might hold the key to freeing Samantha Maxis from her ethereal prison.
To start the Easter Egg, you first need to turn on the power and activate the Pack-a-Punch. Follow the orange symbols displayed on the screen.
Turn the cannon toward the castle and fire it to open access to the castle.
Continue following the orange symbols until you reach the room with the large container, which has three locks on it.
Shoot the three locks to open the container. A Doppelghast will emerge, which you must defeat. Once you kill it, it will drop a crystal.
Pick up the crystal and place it in the container at the red vortex. Once this is done, you will have unlocked the Pack-a-Punch.
Afterward, you can talk to Professor Krafft. He is located near the small passage close to Quick Revive. Interact with a wooden door that has a closed hatch.
When you interact with the door, the hatch will open, revealing Krafft, who will begin speaking with you.
After speaking with him, continue playing until round 10 to proceed with the next step.
When you reach round 10, zombies with metal helmets on their heads will start to appear.
You need to kill these zombies to collect the required stamps. A total of four stamps must be gathered, but each player can carry only one at a time. These stamps are needed to unlock the swords.
Once you’ve collected a stamp, head to the dining hall. There, you’ll find four stone knight statues. The statues each have four distinct markings to indicate which knight corresponds to which sword.
- The knight for the Raven’s Bastard Sword has two wings on his shoulders.
Once you interact with this knight, he will offer you the sword, which you can then pick up.
Once you’ve picked up the sword, it’s time to upgrade it.
Next, head to the alchemy lab to pick up either a fossil or an animal skull. They look as follows:
There are the following animal skulls to collect:
- The animal skulls and fossils you need to collect are:
- Scorpion Skull
- Raven Skull
- Jaw Skull
- Horn Skull
- Fish Skull
Additionally, there are three more fossils that are not yet identified.
Once you’ve collected the corresponding item, take the sword to the tavern. In the basement, you will find an apparatus on the wall opposite the red portal.
Dort könnt ihr das Teil platzieren und das Schwert in die Apparatur schieben. Wenn ihr dann wieder mit der Maschine interagiert, könnt ihr 2 Kreise drehen.
For your convenience, here are the solutions for the different parts:
Once you have entered the correct solution, a soundtrack will play, and an Aether portal will appear on the floor near the machine. Purple orbs will emerge from the machine and will start to chase you. Position yourself in front of the portal so that the orbs are sucked into it.
Once three orbs have been sucked into the portal, it will close, and a small purple orb with a tail will float away. Follow this orb, and a new portal will appear. You need to repeat this process two more times until the small orb returns to the machine.
Once the orb has returned to the machine, you can interact with it again and pick up the upgraded sword.
Collect another stamp to obtain the Dragon’s Sword. The corresponding knight has a dragon on his chest.
Interact with the dragon, and it will give you the sword. Afterward, head to the entrance hall and go up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, you will see a dragon. Interact with the pedestal in front of it, and the sword will be placed there. The dragon will also begin to glow.
Above the dragons, you will find a map with three glowing points. These points indicate the locations you need to go to. The locations are always the same and do not change.
These are fire bowls that have started burning. Be sure to equip yourself with Juggernaut & Stamin-Up before this step, as you will not be able to complete the task otherwise.
The fire bowls are located at the following locations:
- Village-Bastion
- Path of Nature
- Marketplace
Interact with each of the fire bowls. Then, you must immediately return to the dragon, where you placed the sword. Be careful not to get hit by the zombies, as you will lose about 15 HP per second while carrying the dragon’s fire to the sword. Once you have returned all three fires to the statue, the dragon will breathe fire onto the sword, and you can then take the upgraded sword from the pedestal.
Here, you will also need a stamp. Once you have it, you can obtain the Lion’s Bastard Sword at the statue with the lion on its chest.
You will notice that four yellow glowing flying pests will appear.
Do not kill them all at once; instead, kill only one of these four creatures at a time. Once you’ve killed one, you will notice that your sword starts to glow golden, as shown in the picture above. Then, head to the door in the upper village area and strike the door with the glowing sword.
You will now notice that a symbol on the door begins to glow. Repeat this process four times until all the symbols are glowing and the eyes of the door knocker (shaped like a lion) also start to glow.
Now interact with this door, and you will be teleported to a hidden area. Walk down the corridor, and you will once again spot a pedestal where you can insert the sword.
Once the sword is inserted, you will notice four glowing symbols flying through the room.
From this point, a 30-second timer will start counting down. You must complete the task within this time.
When you look at the pedestal, you will see that one of these symbols starts to glow.
Shoot at this symbol, and the pedestal will show you the next symbol to shoot. Repeat this step until you have shot all four symbols.
The order of the symbols is always the same, so you will eventually memorize it. Once you have shot all the symbols, you can once again take the upgraded sword from the pedestal.
A stamp is also required here. Once you have it, you can claim the sword at the statue with the stag on its chest.
To upgrade this sword, you need three lightning rods. You can obtain them as follows:
- Lightning rod Nr. 1
- One of the lightning rods is located directly next to Deadshot Daiquiri on a crate.
- Lightning rod Nr. 2
- For this, you need the ammunition mod “Dead Line.” Go to the following fuse box and shoot at it. Afterward, a lightning rod will fall from an antenna, and you can pick it up.
- Lighning rod Nr. 3
- The third lightning rod is dropped by a knight zombie that will spawn randomly. So, keep killing zombies until it drops.
Once you’ve collected all three lightning rods, head back to the bastion and go to the following apparatus:
Interact with the apparatus, and a small storm will appear. Stay inside the storm and as close to the apparatus as possible while killing the zombies that spawn. Eventually, your sword will be struck by lightning.
When this happens, strike the apparatus with the sword. You need to do this three times, and afterward, you can place the sword into the apparatus.
After a short time, you can then take the upgraded sword out of the apparatus.
To complete the Dark Summoning, you first need a Raven Claw.
Head to the room with the Pack-a-Punch and use the fast travel there.
While sliding through the water, you will see a raven on the right side just before the end. You need to shoot it.
You will notice that the raven flies away in front of you. Shoot it down in the sky, and you will see a small purple orb with a tail that flies toward the ground.
Once the purple orb reaches the ground, you will be able to collect the Raven Claw.
Now, take the Raven Claw to the Creeker room and pay attention to the following symbol on the floor:
Interact with the circle, and the Raven Claw will be placed. Zombies will start spawning in the room, and you need to kill them. Once you’ve killed enough zombies, a glowing chest will appear.
Now, you need to use the Balmung sword to open the chest. Strike the chest with the sword, and it will open.
To obtain the Fire Summoning, we need Ras Anch.
To get this, we must ignite three wood piles. You can either do this with the sword’s special ability or purchase three Molotov cocktails.
The wood piles are all located right at the entrance to the castle:
- Position 1
- Position 2
- Position 3
Once you’ve ignited each wood pile, several fireballs will spawn and fly toward you. When they hit the ground, zombies will spawn. You must kill these zombies with the sword.
At the last fire pile, a Doppelghast will also spawn. Once you kill it, you will receive Ras Anch.
Pick up the item and look for the following symbol in the courtyard:
Place Ras Anch on the symbol, and kill the zombies that appear. Once you complete the task, a glowing chest will appear. Strike it with the Caliburn to open it, and you will obtain the Fire Summoning.
To obtain the Light Summoning, we need the Paladin’s Brooch.
To get this item, head to the dining hall where the knights are located. In this room, you will see small red crystals. Shoot at the following crystal first:
A red beam will appear. Now, you need to align the crystal so that the beam looks like a laser and hits a new crystal. Shoot at the crystal from different angles until the light beam moves into position. Be careful not to move the beam in the wrong direction.
Complete these steps until the beam hits the following statue:
The statue will release the desired item, and you can then pick it up.
Now, head back to the dining hall and look for the following symbol on the floor:
Interact with the symbol, and the item you just picked up will be placed. A new encounter will start. Once you’ve killed enough zombies, a glowing chest will appear. Strike it with the Solais Sword to obtain the Light Summoning.
For this summoning, you need the Pegasus Horseshoe.
Head to the stable at the hilltop. There, you will see a horseshoe above one of the entrances. Shoot at it, and it will fall down.
Now, climb into the cannon and shoot yourself to the Marketplace.
Once you arrive at the Marketplace, you will notice a dark cloud in the sky. Head toward it, and you will spot the desired horseshoe on the ground. Kill the zombies that spawn and pick up the horseshoe.
Now, head back to the Marketplace and you will see a golden circle on the ground. Interact with it to place the horseshoe and start the encounter.
Once you successfully complete this, you will have obtained the final summoning.
Head to the living room and search for four individual book pages that are scattered around the room. These pages can be found at 9 different locations within the room and change with each game. Make sure to search the entire room and every corner. However, the symbols on the pages will always be the same 4.
- Symbol 1
- Symbol 2
- Symbol 3
- Symbol 4
Once you’ve picked up all four pages, you can proceed to the next step.
NOTE: FOR THIS STEP, YOU WILL NEED ALL SUMMONINGS AND THE PERK MEATGRINDER.
Head to the vault and punch through the following wall:
Behind the broken wall, you will see the following grid:
Now, head to the tavern, where you will find 6 small bottles with Roman numerals (1-6) on the bottle necks. Interact with these and remember the symbol that appears on each bottle.
- Bottle 1
- Bottle 2
- Bottle 3
- Bottle 4
- Bottle 5
- Bottle 6
After noting down the symbols for each number, head back to the vault and stand in front of the grid. Now, shoot the symbols in the correct order according to the numbers. But be careful, the symbols will change positions on the grid, so wait after entering each symbol until the positions have changed. Some stages may even cause the symbols to switch positions twice.
After you’ve correctly shot all the symbols, a red orb will appear and hover toward the locked window to the left of the grid.
Now a book appears into which you must insert the pre-collected book pages.
Remember the following order here:
- Left top
- Left bottom
- Right top
- Left bottom
In this order, we must now activate the energy point traps and kill zombies until the trap is deactivated. When we look at these traps, they feature the same symbols as the pages in the book. So, look for the corresponding symbols on the traps and activate them as just described.
- Page 1 (left top)
- Page 2 (left bottom)
- page (right top)
- Page 4 (right bottom)
If everything has been done correctly, the symbols in the book will have disappeared. Now, you can proceed to the vault stairs, where you will notice symbols on the wall:
Here, too, we need to remember the correct order:
- Top = 1
- Right = 2
- Bottom = 3
- Left = 4
The symbols represent the four knights in the dining hall. Therefore, in this example, we need to remember the following order:
- Raven Knight
- Stag Knight
- Lion Knight
- Dragon Knight
Once we arrive there, the summoning comes into play. As we know, each summoning is associated with an animal or a sword. Now, in the room with the knights, pick up the corresponding summoning and the corresponding sword:
- Raven = Dark Summoning
- Stag = Electric Summoning
- Lion = Light Summoning
- Dragon = Fire Summoning
Now, stand in front of each respective knight and look at them.
Now, use the summoning, and the knight will begin to glow. At this moment, inspect your sword.
The knight will then salute you and be surrounded by a golden glow. If you have done this in the correct order with all the knights, a beam will appear from each knight, converge in the center of the room, and then move downward.
Once the beams reach the ground, you can pick up the mystical orb.
Once you have picked it up, you can proceed with the next step of the Easter egg.
NOTE: FOR THIS TASK, THE SWORDS ARE REQUIRED!
Now it’s time to complete the elemental challenges. There are 4 in total, one for each sword. Follow the same order you just used with the knights.
For each challenge, you need to place the mystical orb in a holder and activate it:
Once you’ve started the challenge, you’ll need to kill zombies again, but with the correct sword. The summoning can also be used, so your teammates can assist with this task.
As you kill zombies, you’ll notice orbs flying into the mystical orb. Once enough orbs have been collected, a red circle will appear on the ground, leading to the orb. This means you’ve completed the challenge and can move on to the next one.
The challenges are located at the following places:
- Challenge for the Raven
Vault - Challenge for the Stag
Marketplace - Challenge for the Lion
Dining Hall - Challenge for the Dragon
CourtyardOnce you have completed all four challenges, return to the wall by the vault stairs and place the mystical orb into the holder in the center.
A hidden room will now open, and you can enter it.
In this room, you will find the Guardian Key, which you can pick up.
To start the boss fight, return to the marketplace and go to the large statue. There, you can insert the Guardian Key and begin the final battle.
For this boss fight, we recommend the following equipment:
- 1 Weapon Punch Level 3 and at least Epic rarity
- 1 Mangler Injection per person
- Sufficient Essence for Ammo
- Juggernaut, Deadshot Daiquiri, Speedcola, Quick Revive & Stamin’ Up
- Tier 3 Armor
In the final fight, you have plenty of space. The boss initially has a lot of armor, which must be destroyed first. Don’t be alarmed if you’re not dealing much damage at the beginning. Once the armor is gone, you will see weak spots that glow orange. Shoot these weak spots to deal the most damage to the boss.
The boss fight is divided into three phases, which don’t differ much from each other. Be aware of the zombies and Doppelghasts that will spawn during the fight.
The boss will focus on one player for a short time. This is the opportunity for the other players to deal as much damage as possible to the boss.
In the intermediate phases, the boss is immune to all damage. Eliminate all the zombies, and the boss will then turn back to you.
The arena will get smaller with each phase as the room begins to fill with lava. So, keep an eye on that. Also, in the third and final phase, watch for a red circle on the ground. This indicates where the boss will jump with his hammer.
Once you defeat the boss, you have completed the Easter egg and will receive the following calling card:
